Published…Again

November 16th, 2008

Finally got randallsmusic.com back up and running. Looking at several different platforms including Joomla. Ok with the fact that these new open source platforms are dynamic and wide open, required much patience to learn and utilize. So for now…here’s the new randallsmusic.com. It was down so long that google search still displays old downed “site coming soon” info. Hopefully this blog being activated will change that situation. So for now, here I am on the web. Much work and content to be uploaded so here it goes!

Currently I’m in the process of ripping all the video from Oregon shows and editing into Youtube postable clips and like to Google adsense account so randallsmusic.com will get traffic to my own proprietary content instead of canned content. Eventually I will be releasing free live songs as podcasts with a goal of one new feed at least per week.
Learning video while continuing to refine audio formats and bitrate mhz designations is current goal of future content and web development.
Handbrake is doing a fine job of ripping my own content to my desktop. I plan to use imovie (although older and somewhat preferred with some version) to edit the clips. May have to use Quicktime Pro as well and will be comparing these both for simplicity and effectiveness - all with anticipation of eventually getting new version of Macbook eventually. Hopefully my applications will still be applicable with newer macs. Until then planning on maxing out Ram on my trusty old iBook G4 then just keeping it around as a terminal with wifi and server options.

I expanded my Skye account and got a local phone number. Thinking about bailing on AT&T contract and exploring possibilities of using iPhone as wifi device and ipod sans the monthly fee.

Downloaded iPhone software v 2.0 and added Facebook Apps and noticed a couple improvements. Phone locked up today on “favorites” phone screen. Software mostly stable but noticed a couple buggy things. Seems that Apps store can’t ever remember my apple password. Even though I think I have entered wrong password Facebook Apps seems to have updated, however, couldn’t seem to download some other Apps since screen appeared saying password didn’t match so not sure how Facebook didn’t care about password and downloaded other Apps and updates with same password. Weird. Looking at downloading Evernote update and also digital audio capture App. Looking for ideal case, batter extended in one unit. Ranges start at about $39.99.
Being followed by Fake Leo Laporte which is cool. Preparing to rip all Oregon audio and video for marathon way overdue YouTube postings to monetize hits and always growing traffic to randallsmusic.com. Thinking about getting into Master’s Degree program for digital audio/video production.

I installed Firefox 3 after hearing of some security probs with Safari Mac and Windows and Apple not fixing promptly. Firefox 3 is slick. Now trying to add Delicious Beta which was major downside to upgrading - losing all those killer Del-I-Cious tags. Silverlight for mac looks cool but prob will require major bandwidth of which I am squelched on at the time after quitting my job at Comcast some time ago. Those were the days of free bandwidth and platinum cable.
The olympics will provide coverage with Silverlight (major Flash competitor - and a worthy competitor) and you will be able to have screen in screen view of various events which will be cool, but again require major bandwidth to handle.

SoundlLoud Works! I tested it. Some problems downloading with Mac OS browsers but worked ok on windows using AOL Explorer on Windows. Sale shows up immediately in SoundLoud.com website. Small download of adobe AIR software and another download manager and Sound Station account required. But it does work as a SNOCAP alternative. What a rip of Snocap was. No reports and no payments ever did I received. I also received feedback fairly quickly from the customer support team at soundloud.com. They said they were in the middle up fixing the Mac download problem….Still no response after several weeks of emailing SNOCAP. View actual store at http://www.randallsmusic.com
